Current post-concussion rehabilitation protocols follow the 2012 Zurich guidelines in which the athlete advances from light aerobic activities, such as a stationary bicycle, to full contact practice, with no intervening gradient. This progression is not ideal, as stationary exercises do not emulate the rigorous environment and intensity of a full contact sport which requires quick responses from several neurological pathways of the brain. At Gotham City Orthopedics, we use the TRAZER™ HRA system to imitate a sporting environment for more effective concussion recovery.
Our TRAZER™ HRA Recovery Program
The TRAZER HRA system immerses the athlete in game-like challenges that replicate the rapidly changing nature of competitive sports. It gives one the benefits of testing the various sections of the brain without the danger of physical impact. TRAZER HRA provides patients with a seven-phase, post-concussion rehabilitation program that is geared to test and rehab the various problem-solving sections of your brain. Once rehab is completed, the athlete then takes a fitness test that is compared with their baseline test scores in order to establish their readiness to safely return to play.
The concussion specialists at Gotham City Orthopedics are trained in the Trazer HRA system and are fully prepared for your post-concussion needs. We understand that you are eager to return to the sport that you love, and we are experts at getting you recovered and ready to safely play after your concussion.
