Current post-concussion rehabilitation protocols follow the 2012 Zurich guidelines in which the athlete progresses from light aerobic activities, such as a stationary bicycle, directly to full contact practice with no intervening gradient. This progression is not ideal, as stationary exercises do not emulate the rigorous environment and intensity of a full contact sport which requires quick responses from several neurological pathways of the brain—what should be tested after a concussion.
The TRAZER HRA system immerses the athlete in game-like challenges that replicate the rapidly changing nature of competitive sports. It gives one the benefits of testing the various sections of the brain without the danger of physical impact being possible. TRAZER HRA provides one with a seven-phase, post-concussion rehabilitation program that is geared to test and rehab the various problem-solving sections of your brain. Once rehab is completed, the athlete then takes a fitness test that is compared with their baseline test scores in order to establish their readiness to safely return to play.
The specialists at Gotham City Orthopedics are trained in the Trazer HRA system and are ready for your post-concussion needs. We understand that you might be eager to return to the sport that you love, and we are expert at getting you recovered and ready to safely play again.
