Dr. Joseph Weber-Lopez graduated from Georgetown University and completed medical school at American University of the Caribbean. He is a Board Certified specialist in both family medicine and sports medicine. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on Long Island. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
After completing his residency in Family Medicine at Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of Medicine in Glen Cove, NY, he then completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at Atlantic Sports Health in Morristown, NJ. During his fellowship he served as sports medicine fellow for the New York Jets Football team, Seton Hall University as well as many local high school and college sports teams. He also provided event coverage to local triathlons, and has volunteered as medical staff at the New York Marathon. He also has lectured at both national and local academic meetings.
Dr. Weber-Lopez brings a total body approach to the treatment of athletes and non-athletes alike. He treats non-operative orthopedic conditions including sprains, strains, and fractures. Dr. Weber-Lopez also treats athletes with concussions from a variety of sports using the latest techniques. He has been involved in concussion research, and is dedicated to getting athletes back on the playing field as quickly and safely as possible.
His training in family medicine and sports medicine allows Dr. Weber-Lopez to treat the whole body and not just a body part. His advanced training in musculoskeletal ultrasound helps him find the right diagnosis and his experience with athletes of all types and all levels allows him to craft an ideal treatment plan. He specializes in providing alternatives to surgery if this is indeed the best option for the patient.
